The defender Naldo, from Werder Bremen, has plenty of reasons to rejoice at the end of this season, even with his team not winning the the Bundesliga. With almost guaranteed second place finish and a sport in the next edition of the Champions League secured, the Brazilian had its good football widely recognized.
To get an idea, the journalist Patrick Krull, from Welt.de, puts in the list of the three main defenders of German football at the moment.
"I think we did not start the season well, because of players who were hurt and we missed their absence, and when they came back the production of the team grew as well, especially after the sixth round. Then we started to play good football and that is what guaranteed a spot in the Champions League," reports Naldo.
"I can say I played a good season, helping Werder Bremen to be among the best teams in the league," complements the defender.
For the 2008/2009 season, the former player of Juventude-RS knows that the team needs to improve in some aspects. "If we start well the season, we will have chance to reach the title in the end. In the beginning, the level of teams are similar and the unexpected results end up happening. If we have a focus in the beginning, our chances grow," examines Naldo.
In the last round of the German Championship, when Werder Bremen defeated Hanover 6-1, at the Weserstadion, in Bremen, Naldo had direct participation in the final result. Besides all the defensive security, the defender had a beautiful assistance to Hugo Almeida, who inaugurated the score and made the second goal in a powerfull header, after a sweet pass from compatriot Diego.
"A very good victory, because we were able to say farewell to our fans has and they have always been on our side, with a great score and playing convincingly. I was happy to have scored one of the goals and for having helped Werder Bremen to the virtually guaranteed second place in the Bundesliga," notes Naldo.
