Jovanovic acclaimed by pros in Belgium

Milan Jovanović's contribution to R. Standard de Liège's first Eerste Klasse title in 25 years has been recognised after he was voted Belgium's Players' Player of the Year.

The 27-year-old Serbia striker scored 16 goals to help Standard finish seven points above RSC Anderlecht, and succeeds Mohammed Tchité who won the award while with the Brussels club last season.

Jovanović's team-mate, Mourane Fellaini, was second, while Anderlecht's Moubarak Boussoufa came third in the poll among Belgium's professional players. The awards were preceded by a remembrance applause for Club Brugge KV striker François Sterchele who died in a car crash on Thursday.
